The identity of the winner of October's Powerball jackpot, worth $1.765 billion, has been revealed, according to the California Lottery.
Theodoros Struik represents a group of people who bought the winning ticket at Midway Market in Fraser Park, according to a news release from the state lottery agency.
Struyck and company bought the winning ticket after 36 Powerball draws without a winner.
“Announcing big wins like these gives all of our players the opportunity to hope and dream that they might be next,” Harjinder Cheema, director of the California Lottery, said in a statement issued by the agency. “But it also gives us an opportunity to highlight our amazing mission, which is to generate additional, complementary funding for public education in California.”
Midway Market, the family-owned business that sold the winning ticket, received an additional check for $1 million.
The jackpot was the second-largest ever won in the United States, trailing only the $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot in 2022.
