Los Angeles County health officials issued an exposure warning on Saturday after a traveler infected with measles visited Universal Studios and several other locations in the county between March 30 and April 1.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said in a news release that it received notification from the California Department of Public Health about a non-resident traveler who visited nearly a dozen locations during those three days, most of them in Universal City and at the Sheraton Hotel on West Century Boulevard near the airport. Health officials encouraged anyone who was at an exposure site on those days to make sure they have been vaccinated against measles, a highly contagious disease that causes a rash and other serious symptoms that can be life-threatening for some people. Those who have not been immunized and have never had measles are at risk of developing symptoms within one to three weeks after exposure.
“Measles is spread through the air and through direct contact even before you know you have it and can lead to severe illness,” Los Angeles County Health Officer Monto Davis said in a press release, adding that the disease is “highly contagious for those who have it.” From measles.” “She's not immune to it.”
Young children, pregnant women and immunocompromised individuals are at greater risk of developing measles complications, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recorded 121 cases of measles so far this year, a sharp increase compared to 2023 numbers that has alarmed public health experts.
