Apple released VisionOS 1.1 on Thursday with the most notable feature being improved user personas. Specifically, the new update improves the appearance of hair and makeup, the representation of the neck and mouth, and the rendering of eyes for EyeSight, allowing others to see your eyes when you're wearing the headset.
In addition, users can now also set up their character without holding the device through Settings > Personality and choosing the “Hands-Free Capture” mode after the initial setup steps.
The new version of VisionOS also introduces mobile device management (MDM) for enterprises to manage their devices. This allows administrators to prepare devices for custom configuration, install applications at scale, and perform remote device wipe.
The company announced support for enterprise device management last month.
“We know that in order to open everything up [the power of the Apple Vision Pro], companies will want to manage these devices at scale. “So the good news is that we have a lot of great technology that we can bring to Vision Pro in that regard,” Jeremy Butcher, global enterprise product marketing at Apple, told TechCrunch at the time.
There are a lot of other small improvements in VisionOS 1.1 for users:
Users can now delete system apps from Home View Improvements to discover and connect to a Mac using the virtual Mac display Improvements to the virtual keyboard with better accuracy in text entry Updated closed captioning controls while viewing Apple Immersive video
Over time, developers have had more apps for VisonOS, and the platform now has more than 1,000 native apps on the App Store.
