A Pomona man was arrested Saturday after he drove under the influence and crashed into another car, killing three women, police said.
Police arrested Victor Siharath late Saturday night after responding to a two-car traffic collision around 11 p.m. at White Avenue and Phillips Boulevard in Pomona.
Siharath had a prior DUI conviction, according to Ali Mejia, a spokesman for the Pomona Police Department.
All those involved in the accident suffered “moderate to serious injuries,” and were treated by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel, police said in a press release.
Police said two women died of their injuries at the scene. Three others were taken to a nearby hospital, where another woman died.
The names of the victims were not revealed.
A woman remained in hospital in critical condition as of Sunday night, according to Mejia. One passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers identified Siharath as the sole occupant of the SUV. After determining that he was driving while impaired, Siharath was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence, police said.
The Pomona Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the department's Traffic Services Office at (909) 620-2048.
